Shout out to the entire KISJ theatre team..actors, techies, set builders and musicians. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee was a lot of fun. Great job everyone!

Fire Alarm procedures: For an unannounced fire alarm, it went pretty well. It did show us that we can improve in a few areas. The main issue is that we are able to communicate with you once everyone is out on the field. For us, it means we are loud enough. For you, it means you are quiet enough. We may be doing another so stay tuned.
If you are injured, you may have one person helping you in the elevator. If there is more than one person assisting you, each person will face an after school detention.
Creative Writing Contest:
In celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary of its Confederation, the Embassy of Canada to Korea is organizing a ‘Creative Writing Contest for Youth’ in partnership with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Creative Writing for Children Society based in Canada. Attached are detailed information about the contest and posters in Korean, English and French. We appreciate your kind cooperation in sharing the information with your students and encouraging them to participate in this unique contest!

Are you ready for a little club action! That’s right, KISJ club proposals are happening now. If you and 9 other people are passionate about something then you can run a club and follow your heart’s desire. We have a slightly different process this year so please read carefully.
First, everyone should open the Clubs 2017-2018 folder. In it you will find three slide shows. The first is a general instructions and timeline for next year’s Club Showcase (follow the directions:-). Everyone should view that slide show first. Continuing clubs will place their slides on the next slide show. Proposed clubs will place their slides on the third slide show. Yes, continuing and proposed clubs will have a separate slide show so don’t get yourself confused and put your continuing club on the proposal slide show or your proposed club on the continuing slide show. Got it? 😉
The slide for your club, be it continuing or proposed, is due May 1st.
Spirit Day: Did you know that every second Tuesday of the month we have a STUCO assembly and Spirit day too! What does that mean?? That means whenever we have a STUCO assembly, you can wear any KISJ top with uniform bottoms. Which means you can wear your spirit gear this Tuesday the same day as our...
All School Photo: We will have an all school photo after the assembly on Tuesday.
Grade 10 Students, you need to know your home address and phone number for your AP pre-admininistration session on Thursday, April 13th.

Let’s do this Dragons! The end is nigh.
Was it spring break or spring test prep for you? Either way I hope you all had a good time off. Now that spring has come and gone lets bring on the warm weather uniforms. So now you have a choice. You can continue with the cold weather uniforms if you’d like or move to the warm ones. If you don’t remember, the warm weather uniform is the short sleeve shirt with no tie. Pants and skirts are the lighter polyester type but shoes remain the same.
Prom: Didn’t by prom tickets? Mr. DeBaun and Dr. Boyett want to give you one, final, last chance go buy them. If you have changed your mind and want to go, please go to Mr. DeBaun’s room Monday to purchase them. Tickets are the same price: 160,000w for couples or 90,000w for singles.
AP Exam Prep: With AP testing just around the corner, Dr. Boyett is ready to begin the pre-bubbling of forms. To do that, each student will need to know their home address and telephone number.
Write down your home address and phone number. You can send it in an email to your self or put it on a piece of paper. Either way, have it with you when you return from break. This is important for your tests to go smoothly on test day so please don’t forget to bring that info.

Hey there Dragons,
I heard course requests went ok for everyone? Here’s to getting into all the classes of your dreams. Whats next? Well, you’ll get your draft schedule in a little more than a month. We wanted you to be extra-super-special careful when submitting the course change request form so there’s a week in between the time you get your draft schedule and when we open up the form which has one (1) submission per person. The form allows you to request two changes.
***Allow me to repeat myself: The course change request form may be submitted once per student with a maximum of two requests.***
There will be just a few freshmen in the house this week as SLL is going on.

D-D-D-Dra-Gons!
hi...
A public announcement:
Be careful out there, Dragons. Life is going all great and everything when...
What I’m trying to say is, once you’ve made a ‘misstep' it can be hard to recover. That doesn’t mean you won’t ever recover, just that it could be pretty difficult to get back to where you were before. Please think carefully about your actions as a good person and student at our school. When you became a Dragon, you chose to follow the DRAGONS and all that they represent. There should never be time when you are not representing the DRAGONS well, in school or in life.

A reminder to our G12 study hall students: Please remember that you must not interrupt other classes. Specifically, you should not be rushing into your study hall class rooms before the bell. Instead, please wait patiently until the bell rings, and then allow the previous class to file out BEFORE registering your attendance with the teacher.
Elevator Use (are we really still talking about this?): Students should not be riding the elevators at any time, before OR after school unless they have medical documentation on their person.
There are quite a number of cell phones (are we really still talking about this too?) being turned in by teachers on a regular basis. Please remember that no cell phones should be visible at KISJ unless a teacher explicitly asks you to use your phone.
(On another note)
UNIST(Ulsan National Institute of Technology) is going to visit KISJ on March 9th, from 4:00 to 5:30pm in the PAC. Be there!

Greetings Dragons! There’s a lot to do for AP applications this week. Did you see my email on Saturday? If not, check out the document below to help guide you through the AP / honors application and general scheduling processes.
Uniforms:
All teachers are on the lookout for students who are out of uniform. Please watch out as you could end up in Saturday detention…or worse...😮
Phones:
There have been a few phones brought down to the HS office lately. So I’m wondering if there is some confusion about when students can or cannot use phones. Basically, students may not use phones during the academic day, 8:20am-3:33pm, unless explicitly told otherwise by a teacher. Meaning, if your teacher didn’t say, “Use your phone," you can’t use your phone.
Additionally, by use I mean “see" your phone. If we see it, we will assume you are using it. That includes in the cafeteria, the library, and between classes. After 3:33pm its open season: Use all the phones you have (😉 )
Service hours:
If you have unrecorded service hours from previous years you may use the service form to record them. Please record all similar hours in one submission. So, if you want to record SLL hours you can put all of those hours on one form submission. Just make sure you double check how many hours you should put there. One of the most important parts of the form is the Honor Statement, which asks you to confirm the correctness of your submission. If you say you did more service hours than you actually completed you are not being very honest, are you? Questions? Email me.
