Congratulations Dragons! Why am I saying this? Because you all have nearly finished the first quarter of this year in quite splendid fashion. I know that sometimes it seems like we’re all just following a bunch rules and listening to our teachers talk but after visiting classrooms these last few weeks I really do think we’re all doing a great job. Your teachers are working hard to help you learn and keep you engaged and you are all responding well! This has been one of the best starts to a school year in our short history and each of you has been apart of it. Obviously, our work is not done just yet but as the quarter comes to an end, I thought it was a good time to reflect on how things have been going.
Keep in mind that October 13th is the last date for grades this quarter. However, the quarter grade is only an update. There is no GPA at the quarter and no official transcript. Its only an update on your progress towards the semester grade. The work you have done until now will combine with quarter 2 to form your semester 1 grade. So, there’s plenty of time to turn that B- into an A (although a B is not bad;-)
Winter Uniforms Reminder:
Uniforms will change over beginning tomorrow, October 3rd. This means that all students will move to long sleeve shirts, a vest, and a tie. Bottoms for the boys are the dark grey pants and girls are in skirts or pants. Shoes will remain the same as they are, dark with dark laces.
Here are the clubs with a fall festival booths. You advisor should be able to let you know more about the booths soon. The date to get a booth at the festival has passed and so this is the final list.
Art for Heart's Sake (Art Club)
Global Issues Network
Human Rights Club
KISJ Tech (Engineering)
MAT (Mu Alpha Theta)
I want to say thank you to everyone for bringing their IDs to lunch. Having them has helped the school be more efficient. Also, there is still some running to lunch but there is a lot less running than before. I hope we can continue the downward trend until no one is sprinting to lunch.
Over Night and Field Trips:
If you’re going to be gone on a trip for sports, MUN or another co-curricular, be sure to check in with your teachers to get the work from them before you go. Its important to check in with them because often times students feel overwhelmed when they don’t miss class. When you do miss it, there’s always extra work to do. So, if you can get as much of the work ahead of time as you can….its a positive.
Room #218, under the PAC, is not a room for student use. I know that until now it has been open to you but we are making a change. That room will be used a lot by teachers and so we want to make sure it is always available to them to use as they wish.
Also, if you’ve been recognized by your teachers as someone who represents the true DRAGONS spirit (DRAGONStars) please come down to the office during Monday’s advisory period to get your picture taken. We’ll give the picture back to you later but first I would like to show off some of our awesome students to the entire community.
